Epica and Apocalyptica Concert, Cologne, March 2023

This concert was postponed multiple times during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was on my backlog for quite a while. I was here primarily for Epica since I’m a big fan of them (I’d say they’re my second most favourite band after Nightwish). This was actually my second live Epica concert (in addition to the multiple streamed performances during the pandemic) — the first time I saw them live was in late 2019 in Oberhausen.

I arrived a bit late here — just before they started playing — so I was unfortunately not standing near the stage, but I nevertheless had a nice view of the stage because there was a bar right where I was staying. Below are a few photos taken while they were playing.

Apocalyptica played after Epica. I am not following them that much, so I wasn’t really familiar with their set, but they are great musicians, so they were enjoyable to listen to. Hearing them play a few of their old Metallica covers was also very nice.
